They are still tiny, but sure have grown a lot, and Even though the mother hummingbird doesn't have to brood them any longer to keep them warm, she does still shade them when the sun hits the nest.
Hard to believe that in about two weeks these two will be ready to fledge the nest. I will miss them when they do, hope I get to watch as mom teaches them to sip nectar from flowers.
I did make a new friend today! This little redbreasted nuthatch was flying between the feeder and cedar tree, it would take a seed and then go burry it in the bark of the tree, and just kept going back and forth between the two. It almost landed on me when I was standing in the yard watching it. So I moved next to the feeder and it sure didn't mind me being there.
I decided to see if it would take some seed from my hand and it didn't even hesitate.
As a matter of fact it even landed on my hand a few times.
I sure hope this one keeps coming around, I had a fun time feeding it.
